Acrylic and mixed media on box wood panel 30cm x 30cm First in the Circle, Square, Triangle series, done in the spirit of the *Motherwell drawings of the 1970s. American artist Robert Motherwell was a great explorer of non-objective drawing, passionately believed that even a few simple shapes - ones that did not bear direct resemblence to particular things in the visible world could work together to create and convey a great deal of meaning. "As the series took shape, each painting developed its own landscape and mood. A dialogue between the shapes appeared to create its own story and dimensions". Third Dimension (named after the effect), immediately pulls the eye into various dimensions. The painting has an easy way in, leads the eye around with simple shapes that evoke a mood and narrative. Collage elements captured within the frames give texture and interest.
